A new stage. A new home. A new chapter.
The Theatre Factory is moving to Aluminum City Arts in New Kensington
After three decades in Trafford, The Theatre Factory is excited to announce its next chapter: a new home at Aluminum City Arts in New Kensington.
Since 1996, The Theatre Factory has proudly served Westmoreland County as a nonprofit dedicated to celebrating and preserving the performing arts. For 30 years, the Trafford space has been home to countless productions, artists, audiences, and volunteers, providing a vital gathering place where the community came together for shows, events, classes, and more.
Now, through a generous and unique opportunity, The Theatre Factory has been invited to join Aluminum City Arts, a growing arts campus dedicated to bringing together multiple creative disciplines under one roof.
Located in the historic former Alcoa building in New Kensington, Aluminum City Arts is a vibrant arts hub designed to serve the entire region through live performances, exhibitions, outdoor events, markets, concerts, and more. The space already includes a local history center, artist studios, gallery spaces, a recording and audio studio, a custom framing shop, and other arts-focused businesses and organizations, with even more planned for the future.
For us, the move represents both a continuation of our legacy in serving Westmoreland County and an exciting new beginning.
We will continue to produce plays and musicals while expanding opportunities for artists and audiences in this dynamic, multidisciplinary arts environment. The move will also support our educational and community initiatives, including our KIDWORKS program, which provides theater education for young performers, and our scholarship program for local high school seniors pursuing the arts.
To celebrate this new chapter, we plan to host a community open house at the new space in the early fall, with details to be announced soon. Community members, artists, supporters, and friends will be invited to visit the building, explore the new theater space, and learn more about what’s ahead. More information about upcoming productions, programming, and the transition to the new space will be shared in the coming months.
Joining Aluminum City Arts allows us to be part of something bigger: a collaborative arts community that celebrates creativity in all its forms. We’re thrilled to continue serving Westmoreland County while becoming part of this exciting new cultural hub!
